In Ancient Greece, there were many important events. Sometimes there was an invasion or a war between cities, and one city could win a conquest over another. But the Greeks are also famous for their culture, because they created art, philosophy, and theatre.
In Athens, there was democracy, where citizens could vote. In other places, like Sparta or Macedonia, there was a monarchy, with a king. The Greeks also liked to travel and colonize new lands around the Mediterranean.
Religion was very important. People believed in polytheism, with many gods like Zeus, Athena, and Apollo. They told stories in their mythology, and they built a temple for each god. The Greeks also loved beauty, and we can still see it in their statues and buildings today.
